We tackle learning about money in many different ways-
#1 We need to know if we have ENOUGH money for a purchase, so we work on "more or less" This is where swiping a debit card comes in
#2 We work on "$-Up shopping or rather rounding up and paying to the next dollar, so there is no need for counting change
#3 We insert some history and learn about the presidents' pictures on the coins and bills
#4 We practice counting quarters by rote...25, 50, 75, $1.00. This helps with vending machine purchases.
#5 If we are counting multiple coins, we use "hairy money" , Lay the coins out on a piece of paper, line them up in descending value and draw 1 hair to represent 5 cents and a dot to represent each penny. Here is a rather bland video that explains it
